VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for December 22, 2025 – January 2, 2026
The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in Warren County in the coming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supply issues. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic traffic pattern changes and lane closures.
INTERSTATE 66
Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Jan. 9.
Mile marker 14 to 15, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for utility work, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through Jan. 1. Nighttime and overnight work during weekends.
INTERSTATE 81
*NEW* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound – Right shoulder closures for tree removal operations, Dec. 29 – 31, Jan. 2, 2026.
Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight single lane closures southbound, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the night of Jan. 8. Single shoulder closures 24/7. The work zone speed limit is 60 miles per hour. Traffic restrictions are related to the I-81 southbound widening project.
PRIMARY ROADS
*NEW* Route 522/340 (Winchester Road) – Northbound and southbound left lane closures between Route 675 (Success Road) and Route 639 (Ashby Station Road) for utility work, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Jan. 24.
SECONDARY ROADS
No lane closures reported.
