Local Girl Scout Cadette Packs Over 150 Bags for Female Students at Skyline Middle School

Skyline Middle School eighth-grader Cortney Jones has spent her summer making a difference for her female classmates. As a dedicated Girl Scout Cadette and a Skylines National Junior Honor Society member, Cortney took the initiative to pack over 150 bags filled with essential items for female students.

Cortney’s inspiration for this project comes from a deep sense of empathy and support for her peers. “This is an important project to me because I want my female peers to know they are not alone and that help is available if they reach out and ask,” she shared.

Recognizing that students may sometimes need basic necessities, Cortney’s bags include items that can help them feel more prepared and confident during the school day. These bags are being placed in various locations throughout the school, making them easily accessible to those who may need them.

Cortney’s efforts have not gone unnoticed. With the ongoing support of Hawk Flock leader Shea Steele Kuhn, she plans to keep the bags stocked throughout the school year. The project, which began as a summer initiative, will continue to grow as Cortney collects more donations from the community.

Those interested in supporting Cortney’s mission can contact the Skyline Middle School Hawk Flock to make a contribution. Cortney’s work reminds us that even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact on the lives of others.
