Shenandoah University Recognized as Apple Distinguished School

Published

on

Shenandoah University has been named an Apple Distinguished School for the 2024–2027 term. This prestigious recognition is given to institutions that demonstrate continuous innovation in education through the use of Apple technology. This honor places Shenandoah among a global network of schools recognized for their forward-thinking approach to education, leadership, and technological excellence.

Apple Distinguished Schools are selected based on their ability to create technology-rich learning environments that support and enhance educational goals. These schools have clear visions for the role of technology in education, and they show documented results of academic accomplishments. Shenandoah University’s selection reflects its commitment to using Apple products to inspire students, encourage creativity, and impact teaching and learning.

A Commitment to Innovation

Shenandoah University has been at the forefront of educational technology since 2009 when it launched its Apple device program. Under this initiative, every student receives a MacBook Pro, iPad, and Apple Pencil. This program has been a game-changer for the university, promoting equal access to technology and encouraging creative exploration among students.

“No matter what your background is, everybody comes into the university with the same devices, which really opens up a world of possibilities for students to be able to create things while they’re here at the university,” said Dr. Devon Taylor, Shenandoah’s Associate Vice President and Chief Information Officer. “Since students get to take these devices with them when they leave the institution, it’s like they have a little piece of Shenandoah that goes out with them into the world as they embark on their journey to do great things out there.”

A Global Movement in Education

Around the world, schools are harnessing the power of Apple technology to transform the way students learn. By integrating iPads and MacBooks into daily lessons, teachers are empowering students to lead, explore, and innovate. Shenandoah University’s recognition as an Apple Distinguished School affirms its dedication to this global movement of redefining education through technology.
