Warrenton Nurse Amanda Pavone Honored with DAISY Award for Extraordinary Care

Amanda Pavone, a dedicated nurse at the Fauquier Family Birthing Center, has been recognized with the DAISY Award for the second quarter of 2024. This prestigious award celebrates the exceptional care nurses provide worldwide, with recipients nominated by patients, their families, and fellow healthcare professionals. Amanda’s recognition is the result of heartfelt nominations from multiple patients who experienced her compassionate care firsthand.

One new mother who nominated Amanda expressed deep appreciation for her support and dedication throughout the birthing process. “Amanda was very supportive of my birth plan,” she shared. “She always advocated for me and my baby and showed my husband ways he could help me get through my contractions. Even though her shift had ended at 7 p.m., she stayed on to help deliver my baby.”

A lifelong Warrenton resident, Amanda has been a vital part of the Fauquier Health team for several years. Initially joining as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), she transitioned to her role as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing-Registered Nurse (BSN-RN) in 2022. Reflecting on her career, Amanda shared, “I worked in the ER for six years and loved being able to help someone in difficult times. Being a Labor and Delivery nurse, it’s such an amazing moment. Being there to share my patients’ joy in bringing a little one into the world gives me goosebumps.”

The positive impact Amanda has on her patients is evident in the heartfelt testimonials she receives. Another new mother recalled, “Amanda went above and beyond to make me feel like I was her only patient. She was kind and calm – we knew we were in great hands. Her light and warm personality made us feel at ease. Thank you for the stellar staff that makes this miraculous event so much more wonderful.”

Toni Maxwell, Chief Nursing Officer at Fauquier Health, praised Amanda’s exceptional dedication to her patients: “Amanda’s commitment to her patients is what great nursing is all about. Not only is Amanda our Daisy honoree this quarter, but she was recently recognized as a Guiding Star for patient safety as well. We are so glad to have Amanda on our team.”

The DAISY Award, established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to honor his memory and the exceptional care he received from his nurses, recognizes nurses in over 6,500 healthcare facilities and nursing schools around the world. Amanda’s recognition as a DAISY Award honoree is a testament to her unwavering commitment to patient care and safety.
