VDOT: Warren County Traffic Alert for June 9 -13, 2025
The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in Warren County during the coming weeks. Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.
INTERSTATE 66
Mile marker 2 to 0, westbound – Shoulder closures for road work related to I-81 southbound widening, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 4.
*NEW* Mile marker 4 to 15, eastbound – Right shoulder closures for shoulder repairs, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
*NEW* Mile marker 6 to 7, eastbound – Right lane closures for inspection of bridge over Crooked Run, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.
*NEW* Mile marker 7 to 6, westbound – Right lane closures for inspection of bridge over Crooked Run, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday.
INTERSTATE 81
*NEW* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight mobile lane closures for vegetation control, 8:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday nights.
*NEW* Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight alternating mobile lane closures at various locations for pavement marking installations, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. June 4 – 11 nights.
Mile marker 299 to 300, northbound and southbound – Overnight left lane closures for median barrier installation and construction equipment entrances, 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through night of July 3. Daytime shoulder closures for sign work, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through July 4. Traffic restrictions are related to I-81 widening project.
*UPDATE* Mile marker 300 to 299, southbound – Right shoulder closures for sign work, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
PRIMARY ROADS
Route 340 (Winchester Road) – Northbound and southbound single-lane closures between Route 637 (Guard Hill Road) and Riverton Road for painting of Crooked Run bridge, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through June 22.
SECONDARY ROADS
Route 658 (Rockland Road) – Closed to through traffic between Route 340/522 (Winchester Road) and Route 705 (Fishnet Boulevard) for construction of bridge over Norfolk Southern Railway. Follow posted detour. Estimated completion December 2025.
Vegetation management may take place district-wide on various routes. VDOT reminds motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through work zones.
