Have you ever wondered what to do if you find a wild baby animal?

On Wednesday, January 22 at 11:00 AM EST, Blue Ridge Wildlife Center continues its Winter Webinar Series where we will walk through what to do (and what not to do) when you encounter young wildlife in the wild.

BABY SEASON: HEALTHY BABY ANIMALS & REUNITING WITH ADULTS – Register Today

This webinar will focus on the most common native wildlife species we see in Virginia and will cover breeding seasons, early life stages, and how to determine when a baby animal is healthy and does not need intervention.

We will also discuss what to do and what not to do when a baby animal is found, including proper renesting and reuniting techniques, and we will address common myths we frequently encounter when speaking with members of the public. This webinar is designed to provide clear, practical, science-based guidance for anyone who wants to make informed decisions that truly benefit wildlife.

Karlye Smith

The webinar will be presented by Karlye Smith, Sr. Front Office Coordinator at Blue Ridge Wildlife Center. Karlye grew up in Frederick County, Maryland, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Towson University. After working in health care for several years, she began volunteering with BRWC’s Education Department in early 2024 and was hired as a full-time staff member shortly thereafter. She is passionate about native wildlife, community education, and helping people confidently assist animals in need.
