Open House is opportunity to learn about apprenticeship programs in high-demand careers and funding opportunities

The LFCC Workforce Solutions Trades Open House is a great opportunity to  learn about the program’s new accelerated electrical, plumbing and HVAC apprenticeship programs, all of which will start in January at the Boys and Girls Club of Fauquier.

Attendees can also learn about the new construction project management course offered at our Vint Hill site, tour the newly renovated technical lab space, and find out more about the Workforce Credential Grant, which allows eligible students to pay just one-third the tuition once they receive their credential.

LFCC Workforce Solutions has offered apprenticeship programs for nearly two decades. The “earn and learn” training model combines work-based learning and related classroom instruction, adhering to the highest industry standards. Companies that offer apprenticeship programs can diversify their workforce, improve productivity and profitability, standardize training, reduce turnover, receive tax credits and more, according to Workforce Solutions Marketing Director Guy Curtis.

“While 75 years ago the apprenticeship system began in construction and other skilled trades, today there are apprenticeships in more than 1,000 occupations, including manufacturing, IT, energy and more,” said Curtis. “The goal of the Fauquier Trades Open House offered by LFCC Workforce Solutions is to educate businesses and leaders about the importance of apprenticeship programs. Additionally, this event will show area youth and career seekers that apprenticeship is a great way to start a high-demand career field right in Fauquier County. These programs can lead to great local jobs that also help positively impact our economy.”

Nationwide, more than 150,000 employers are training about 375,000 apprentices. President Barack Obama has set a goal of doubling the number of apprenticeships within five years.

Thursday’s open house is 4-6 p.m., at the Boys and Girls Club of Fauquier, 169 Keith St., Warrenton, VA 20186. The open house will also feature information on other Workforce Solutions programs – such as healthcare, computers and business – offered at the Warrenton campus and the Vint Hill site, and details about our youth camps.
