Good guy hacking wins
In March, a suspect who allegedly ran a ring of child pornography sites was extradicted to the U.S., thanks to a browser hack by the FBI in 2013.

According to KrebsOnSecurity, The FBI says the suspect ran the world’s largest child porn sites, hidden on the Dark Web, where violent photos of pre-pubescent children were posted.

The suspect, who holds dual U.S. and Irish citizenship, was held without bond in Ireland for six years while he appealed his extradition.

Don’t tell Twitter you are 12
A cyber-prank tricked so many Twitter users that the company felt compelled to issue a warning.

The prankster told users that they could pick any color they wanted for their profile, if they changed their birthdate to 2007.

What happened? They got locked out.

You can’t use Twitter if you are 12 and that’s that.

So many fell for the prank that Twitter issued this announcement:

We’ve noticed a prank trying to get people to change their Twitter birthday in their profile to 2007 to unlock new color schemes. Please don’t do this. You’ll get locked out for being under 13 years old.

Android anti-virus apps fail
AV Comparatives found only 80 of the 250 anti-virus apps on Google Play are capable of detecting the most common viruses.

The company found that many of the unsafe anti-virus apps had a four-star rating, according to GrahamCluely.com.

Only 23 products tested could identify 100 percent of malware.

Well-known brands performed best.
