Warren County fire displaces family of five

Front Royal — A house fire in the South River district of Warren County brought firefighters out around 1 a.m. Monday morning, as they battled frigid temperatures and a blaze that kept them on scene for several hours.

The Warren County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported Monday that firefighters were dispatched to the 100 block of Panoramic View Lane near Chester Gap shortly after 1 a.m., after receiving multiple calls reporting the fire. Crews arrived on the scene to find a single-family home fully involved, with flames showing through the roof.

The family of five had escaped the home before firefighters arrived, first responders reported.

It took firefighters approximately 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. Units remained at the scene for several hours performing salvage and overhaul procedures.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental, but is still under investigation by the office of the fire marshal. The house was a total loss, with a damage estimate of $220,000.

No injuries were reported.
