Citizens will pay a lawyer to defend the Supervisors?

Just when I thought the County Board of Supervisors could not sink any lower after being indicted for misfeasance (not doing their job) they took it to yet another lower level. The Board of Supervisors Agenda lists the following for the Tuesday morning meeting: Item M. Hiring of Legal Counsel for the Warren County Board of Supervisors, County Administrator, and Former County Attorney.
Yes, that’s right, the Citizens would pay a lawyer to defend the Supervisors against charges leveled by the Citizens. As you can imagine, the reaction to this scam has been loud and strong. They want the same people that they misrepresented to pay for their attorney.
The time for laughter is over. Dan Murray, mugging for the camera with a huge grin after being indicted along with a smiling Doug Stanley. Little could anyone imagine, that they would have have somebody else pay for it.
What’s at stake for these ”good ole boys”? Glavis and Murray aren’t running for re-election, so do they care as much about their public perception? Sayre, already struggling with continued gaffs might as well throw any concept of winning away. Stanley is hoping they renew his contract before the election because of a costly ($200,000) clause that would have to be paid if he was fired.
There is a difference between being legally right and morally right. Legally, they may be correct in having the County pay for their lawyer. Morally, they should pay for their misdeeds as any other citizen would.
