FRONT ROYAL – A charge of reckless driving has been filed in a two-car collision on Fifth Street between North Royal and Virginia Avenues on Tuesday, January 23. Jason Tiller, the driver of a southbound, 1997 Jeep Cherokee crossing Fifth Street at the alley running north-south was charged after being T-boned by a Dodge Caravan traveling eastbound on Fifth Street.

Tiller, 27, a resident of Esteppe Road in Front Royal was transported from the scene to Warren Memorial Hospital with what were described as minor injuries. Tiller’s vehicle was rolled onto its driver’s side by the impact and came to rest against a house at the southeast intersection of the alley and Fifth Street. Damage to the house appeared to be minor.

Midway Towing flips Jeep upright for removal from scene.

The driver of the Dodge van, Brian Dodson, 37, of South Shenandoah Avenue in Front Royal, was not reported injured in the collision.

This accident serves as a reminder that drivers traveling alleys must always yield the right of way to vehicles approaching on the streets they are crossing. This fact appears borne out by the location of Tiller’s vehicle in the wake of the accident. For while the location of Tiller’s vehicle up against the house at the southeast corner of the intersection indicates he had nearly made it across Fifth Street when the impact occurred, he is the driver who was charged in the incident.

Damage to the two involved vehicles.
