A Warren County man and woman are behind bars after they allegedly assaulted a three-year-old child who had been placed in their care by the child’s parents, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

A Tuesday afternoon press release from Sheriff Daniel McEathron states that on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 12) shortly after 4 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint regarding a child who had been assaulted and had visible bruising from the assault.

Arrested Friday, Feb. 15 in the assault were Amber Dawn Blake, 23, and Jacob Kane Dunn, 22, both of High Top Road in Warren County.

The release states the pair had been caring for the child recently at the request of the child’s parents. It further states that “it was also determined that Blake and Dunn were both involved in the assault of the three-year-old child.”

Blake and Dunn were each charged with one count each of cruelty and injuries to children.

During the arrest of Dunn, he reportedly resisted arrest and attempted to flee from deputies, which resulted in additional charges for obstructing justice, resisting arrest and fleeing from a law-enforcement officer.

Blake and Dunn both were transported to RSW Regional Jail and are currently being held without bond.

This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Investigator Young at 540-635-7100 or invyoung@warrencountysheriff.org.
