Virginia State Police Report Drug Seizures, Firearm Recoveries in Weekly Operation

Published

on

Virginia State Police reported significant enforcement activity across the Commonwealth during the week of March 18 through March 24, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and violent crime.

According to the weekly report, state police, working alongside federal and local law enforcement partners, recovered firearms, seized narcotics, and confiscated cash tied to suspected criminal activity.

During the operation, troopers recovered eight firearms with an estimated value of $4,000. Authorities also seized $3,838 in U.S. currency.

Drug enforcement efforts accounted for the largest impact, with officials estimating more than $552,000 in denied revenue from seized narcotics.

The seizures included a variety of illegal substances:

  • 5.5 pounds of cocaine
  • 7.1 pounds of marijuana
  • 2.7 pounds of fentanyl
  • 1.2 pounds of THC consumables
  • 3.2 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms
  • 1.9 ounces of designer drugs

Officials say the operations are part of a coordinated strategy involving state police, specialized task forces, and federal partners aimed at disrupting criminal networks and reducing the flow of dangerous drugs into communities.

Fentanyl, in particular, continues to be a major concern for law enforcement due to its potency and role in overdose deaths across Virginia and the nation.

The Virginia State Police emphasized that these efforts are ongoing and part of a broader mission to enhance public safety across the Commonwealth.

By working in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies, officials say they are continuing to target illegal activity, remove weapons and drugs from the streets, and support initiatives aimed at reducing violent crime.

The report is part of a weekly update provided by the Virginia State Police.
