C&C Frozen Treats Brings Family Fun Day to Downtown Front Royal for the Tenth Year in a Row

“This is what the community asked me for, so we continued to bring a little love and magic through crawfish,” said William Huck of C&C Frozen Treats, reflecting on a ten-year tradition in which vendors gather in the vicinity of the Front Royal downtown gazebo around the central event of boiling crawfish. According to Huck, this event has always been his thank you to the community for the support his business receives from them all year long. “Crawfish boil is family coming together. So that’s why we did a crawfish boil.” This year, they have about forty vendors and exhibitors set up, all of whom are local to Warren County, and they are coming together on May 10 to share Huck’s magic.

Among the vendors attending this event was Play Favorites, currently managed by Bret and Hannah Bement. They expressed how important it is to reach not only children but adults, as the magic of playing games never dims no matter how much a person ages. Wendy Manuel of Stumblin N Tumblin stood proudly beside her craftsmanship, a collection of drinking ware. Also, Cub Scouts had a presence at the event. Cub Scouts representative Jon Elliott spoke enthusiastically about the programs the organization is providing, developing life-long skills in young people and potentially guiding them in career choice. He also said that in recent years, the Cub Scouts organization has become more inclusive of girls.

Having won best float in the parade last Christmas, this pirate ship attracts children who love to play with sand.

The Front Royal Police Department has provided security for this event for all ten years of its history. On May 10, the FRPD was spread out, covering a wide variety of events including Wheels and Wings at the airport off Route 619. But Family Fun Day is a high priority for them. The future looks bright for the FRPD as they flourish under the leadership of Chief of Police Brian Whited and seek, among other ventures, to incorporate a higher level of drone activity into their daily practice.

The SideMen band gears up to provide Family Fun Day with music.
