Celebrate National Serpent Day at Samuel’s Public Library
If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about snakes, National Serpent Day is the perfect time! On Feb. 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Samuel’s Public Library in Front Royal will host a free, family-friendly event all about these amazing reptiles.

Held in White Meeting Room A, the program will feature live snakes, including Fred and Green Bean, giving attendees a chance to see them up close. Whether you’re fascinated by snakes or a little unsure about them, this event is designed to educate and inspire. Guests can also enjoy a fun snake-themed craft to take home.
Virginia is home to more than 30 snake species, including the rough green snake, eastern rat snake, and copperhead. These creatures play an important role in nature, from controlling rodent populations to maintaining the balance of local ecosystems.
Sponsored by the Friends of Shenandoah River State Park, this event is open to all ages, with no registration or fees required.
