Chester Street Tavern: A Historic Gem Bringing Music, Community, and Charm to Front Royal
The Chester Street Tavern celebrated its official ribbon cutting in the heart of the town’s historic district. With its rich history and dedication to live music, this 1806 restored home has quickly become a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike.
Bryon Biggs, President of the Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, welcomed guests, and Mayor Lori Cockrell praised the tavern’s contribution to the community. “It’s more than a business—it’s a cornerstone of warmth and connection in Front Royal,” the mayor said.
Owner Jim Justice shared the tavern’s journey, from its restoration to becoming a hub for live music and camaraderie. “This is a space where history meets community,” Justice said. “We’ve worked hard to honor its past while creating a welcoming place for all.”
A Step Back in Time
Nestled at 12 Chester Street, the Chester Street Tavern is a lovingly restored 1806 home featuring vintage hand-hewn beams, well-worn plank floors, plastered walls, fireplaces, and a charming covered patio. It’s the perfect blend of history and comfort.
Guests are encouraged to “make every hour Happy Hour” while enjoying a selection of craft beers, wines, hard seltzers, and non-alcoholic sodas that enhance the authentic tavern experience.

The tavern is proud to support local musicians, with live music filling the air every day it’s open. The event schedule promises a mix of talent that’s sure to delight any music lover. “There’s always music in the air here,” Justice said. “It’s what makes this place so vibrant.”

Chester Street Tavern is open Thursday and Friday from 3 p.m. to late and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to late. Private events are available by reservation.
