Children Activities by Samuels Public Library for the Month of July

These are the events being presented by the Youth Services Department at Samuels Public Library during the month of July 2025.  More information about Samuels Library and the programs and services available can be found at www.samuelslibrary.net or by calling (540) 635-3153.


Tuesday, July 1

  • 3:00 PM – Color Walk: Mix it Up. For ages 6-11.  Listen to stories about colors, mix your own colors to make art, and watch colors “walk” from one cup to another.   Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 2 & 3

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time. 
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with 4th of July stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Friday, July 4

  • The library will be closed for the holiday.

Monday, July 7

  • 10:15 AM – Music & Movement for Babies (ages 0-23 months).
  • 11:15 AM – Music & Movement for Toddlers (ages 2-5). 
  • Join our fun and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby or toddler. Registration is required.

Tuesday, July 8

  • 10:30 AM – Bluey Party.  For ages 0-6.  Join us for stories, snacks, games, dancing and crafts.  Registration is required.
  • 3:00 PM – Ancient Egyptian Party: Mix it Up.  For ages 6-11.  Listen to stories about Ancient Egypt, make your own papyrus and hieroglyphics, and participate in a mummy race.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 9 & 10

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time. 
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Shark stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Friday, July 11

  • 10:00 AM – Laugh at Ladybugs: Toddlers Trails.  For ages 2-5, with a parent.  Join us and Warren County Parks & Rec at Eastham Park for stories about ladybugs, trail walking, and a craft. Registration is required.
  • 3:00 PM – Painting with Petals: Wee Ones.  For ages 3-5, with a parent.
  • 4:00 PM – Painting with Petals: Green Thumbs.  For ages 6-11.   Join the Master Gardeners as they teach about painting with petals.  Which flowers make the best color?  Come find out. Registration is required.

Saturday, July 12

  • 2:00 PM – Advocacy Through Artwork.  For ages 5+ with guardian.  Join the ARC of Warren County as they use leaves and flowers to create beautiful collages, which will be put on display. Registration is required.

Monday, July 14

  • 10:15 AM – Music & Movement for Babies (ages 0-23 months).
  • 11:15 AM – Music & Movement for Toddlers (ages 2-5).  Join our fun and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby or toddler. Registration is required.
  • 2:00 PM – Rhythmaya.  Bring the family for music and dance with a touch of culture from India. Are you ready to get up and move?

Tuesday, July 15

  • 3:00 PM – Throw a Fit: Mix it Up.  For ages 6-11.  Join us for stories on dealing with frustration and anger, then make a “fit” to throw.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 16 & 17

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time. 
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time. 
  • Come hear a local author, Arlie Jerome, read his book Max the Husky. Learn about sled dogs and working as a team, do some finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, July 19

  • 2:00 PM – Rockstar Magic.  Bring the family to see illusions, levitation, and live animals. There will be audience participation, drama, and music.

Monday, July 21

  • 10:15 AM – Music & Movement for Babies (ages 0-23 months).
  • 11:15 AM – Music & Movement for Toddlers (ages 2-5). 
  • Join our fun and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby or toddler. Registration is required.

Tuesday, July 22

  • 11:00 AM – Clay Venture.  For ages 6-11.
  • 1:00 PM – Clay Ventures. For ages 12-18.
  • Ms. Arline, from Explore Art & Clay in Front Royal, will be bringing in tiles to paint and talking about clay and the firing process she will use to finish the projects.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 23 & 24

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time. 
  • 11:00AM – Read with the Sheriff: Preschool Story Time. 
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Underwater stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Friday, July 25

  • 2:00 PM – Going Crazy for Gundalows. For ages 7-11. Meet at Shenandoah River “Andy Guest” State Park to learn what a gundalow is and make your own to float down the river. Registration is required.

Saturday, July 26

  • 2:30 PM – LARP: Teens Connect.  For ages 12-18.  Join us to learn about, and practice, LARP (Live Action Role Play) with foam weapons, scoring, storylines, and local opportunities.  Weapons are made of foam. Registration is required.

Monday, July 28

  • 10:15 AM – Music & Movement for Babies (ages 0-23 months).
  • 11:15 AM – Music & Movement for Toddlers (ages 2-5). 
  • Join our fun and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby or toddler. Registration is required.

Tuesday, July 29

  • 3:00 PM – Ancient Rome: Mix it Up.  For ages 6-11.  Listen to stories about Ancient Rome, make your own mosaic, and learn an “ancient” game.  Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, July 30 & 31

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time. 
  • Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Cow stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Thursday, July 31

  • 2:00 PM – Wildlife Ambassadors.  Hear the stories and have up-close experiences with live, non-releasable wild animals—hawks, owls, falcons, snakes, turtles, or opossums.  Presented by the Wildlife Center of Virginia. Bring the family!

Our Summer Reading Program will end on Saturday, August 2nd.  Keep reading and logging those books, then get your prizes when you come to one of our many events this month!
