Children Activities by Samuels Public Library for the Month of November

These are the events being presented by the Youth Services Department at Samuels Public Library during the month of November 2024. More information about Samuels Library and the programs and services available can be found at www.samuelslibrary.net or by calling (540) 635-3153.

Friday, November 1

  • 5:00 PM – All entries for Holiday Writing Contest are due! Write that story or poem, or draw a holiday picture, and turn in with your entry form at the children’s desk at the library.

Saturday, November 2

  • 2:00 PM – Stuffy “Sleepover”.  For ages 5-11, with parent.  Bring your favorite stuffed animal friend to the library for a story time.  Leave it overnight for a “sleepover” and pick it up Monday morning.  Your friend may have new friends (pictures will be taken) and will have a gift for you!  Registration is required.

Monday, November 4

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, November 5

  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is Landslides. Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursdays, November 6 & 7

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Fall. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Fall stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, November 9

  • 11:00 AM – Aspiring Artists.  For ages 6-11. Come learn about Monet’s water colors and make your own work of art!  Registration is required.
  • 12:30 PM – Dungeons & Dragons.  For ages 12-18.  Join us on a quest with Sir Samuel!  Bring your own character sheet or use one of ours.  Registration is required.

Monday, November 11

  • The library will be closed for the holiday.

Tuesday, November 12

  • 10:30 AM – Homeschool Hub. For ages 6-11. Children will work together as they go through the scientific method, gathering data, and drawing conclusions.   The topic this week is a cranberry volcano. Registration is required. .

Wednesday & Thursdays, November 13 & 14

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Apples. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Apple stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, November 16

  • 11:00 AM – Birdseed for Wee Ones in the Garden. For ages 3-5, with parent.  Join the Master Gardeners as they talk about the different types of things that birds eat and how they plant seeds. Registration is required.
  • 12:00 PM – Birdseed for Elementary Green Thumbs. For ages 6-11. Join the Master Gardeners as they talk about the different types of things that birds eat and how they plant seeds. Registration is required.

Saturday, November 16

  • 2:30 PM – Teens Connect.  For ages 12-18.  Like to draw and create?  Have a character you want to develop?  Join other teens while you design your character and talk about the story line.  Registration is required.

Monday, November 18

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, November 19

  • 11: 00 AM – Tea Party with a Ballerina.  For ages 2-5, with parent. Wear your princess dress or prince outfit, if you want to, and join Ms. Amy as she reads stories, teaches some ballet moves, and has a tea party!
  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is a cranberry volcano. Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, November 20 & 21

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Turkey. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00 AM – Preschool Story Time. Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Turkey stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft! Registration is required.

Thursday, November 21

  • 5:30 PM – Healthy Families Northern Shenandoah Valley.  They provide home visiting services to expecting parents or for those who just had a new baby. Support can start as early as in the 20th week of pregnancy and continue until their child is ready to go to preschool or enter Kindergarten.  Along with home visitation, the families are also invited to attend events and classes.  Join us at the library to see how we can support you. Pizza and drinks will be provided.  Registration is required.

Monday, November 25

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Thanksgiving. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00 AM – Preschool Story Time.  Read With the Sheriff! This week we will have a special guest from the Sheriff’s office!  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Thanksgiving stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft! Registration is required.

Thursday & Friday, November 28 & 29

  • The library will be closed for the holiday.
