Children Activities by Samuels Public Library for the Month of September

These are the events being presented by the Youth Services Department at Samuels Public Library during the month of September 2024.  More information about Samuels Library and the programs and services available can be found at www.samuelslibrary.net or by calling (540) 635-3153.


Monday, September 2

  • The library will be closed for the holiday.

Tuesday, September 3

  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is Bottle Flipping Physics. Registration is required.

Wednesday & Thursday, September 4 & 5

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Squirrels. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Squirrels stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration is required.

Saturday, September 7

  • 11:00 AM – Going on a Bear Hunt with ARC.  For ages 5+ with a guardian.  This will be a program making and using sensory spoons, as we read the story.  Registration is required.

Monday, September 9

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

Tuesday, September 10

  • 10:30 AM – Homeschool Hub. For ages 6-11. Children will work together as they go through the scientific method, gathering data, and drawing conclusions.   The topic this week is Magic Perimeter. Registration is required.

Wednesday, September 11

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft on Rabbits. Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00AM – Preschool Story Time.  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Rabbit stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft. Registration required.

Friday, September 13

  • 10:00 AM – Toddler Trails with Warren County Parks & Rec.  For ages 2-5. Join us at the Soccer Plex shelter (by the concession stand) to learn about bees and taste some honey!  Registration is required.

Saturday, September 14

  • 2:30 PM – Teens Connect.  For ages 12-18.  Join us as we listen to some calming music and do yoga.   Come learn some relaxing poses to de-stress.   Registration is required. 

Monday, September 16

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

  • 4:00 PM – Science Scouts. For ages 6-11.  Children will investigate a different STEM-related topic bi-weekly. This week’s theme is Magic Perimeter. Registration is required.

Saturday, September 21

  • 10 AM – 4:30 PM – SAMICON. Libraries Open a World of Magic is the theme, so bring the family for a magical experience! All day there will be scavenger hunts, vendors, LARP performances, escape rooms, costume contests, and more!

Monday, September 23

  • 11:00 AM – Music & Movement for Babies & Toddlers. Join our relaxed and joyful time with your little ones as we listen to music while learning some basic movements and multisensory activities designed to delight your baby. Registration is required.

  • 10:15AM – Toddler Story Time.  Bring your toddler to a potpourri of simple stories, fun songs, and a cute craft about Leaves! Siblings welcome. Registration is required.
  • 11:00 AM – Preschool Story Time.  Read With the Sheriff! This week we will have a special guest from the Sheriff’s office!  Come in for an enjoyable hour filled with Leaves stories, exciting sing-alongs, finger plays, and a nifty craft! Registration is required.

Friday, September 27 – Monday, September 30

  • Annual FOSL book sale ALL DAY! Come buy some books!

Saturday, September 28

  • 12:30PM – Dungeons & Dragons.  For ages 12-18.  Join us on a quest with Sir Samuel!  Bring your own character sheet or use one of ours.  Registration is required.
