Deborah Sue Gilliland Poe, also lovingly known as Memaw, 72, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg.

Deborah was born February 2, 1952, in Rock Hill, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late John Raymond Gilliland and the late Marjorie Deloris Gill Gilliland.
Renowned for her baking skills, everyone loved Deborah’s cookies, especially at Christmastime. Her sense of style, decorating, and flower-arranging skills were unmatched. No one was able to decorate for the holidays or host a family gathering like Deborah.
Deborah was preceded in death by her loving partner of 22 years, Gene Gaudioso, and two brothers, Terry Gilliland and Steve Gilliland.
Surviving are three daughters, Stephanie R. Dunkle of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sabrina S. Hoover (Justin) of Front Royal and Katrina K. Robinson; one brother, John G. Gilliland (Teresa) of Fredericksburg; one sister, Bonnie K. McWhirt of Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and two dogs, Max and Missy.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Friday, February 23 from 12-1 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, VA. Following visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Sammy Campbell officiating. The entombment will be private.
Pallbearers will be Brett Clawson, Bruce Clawson, Guy Clawson, Eric Foley, Josh Foley, John Gilliland, Joel Hartley, and Chris Lindsay.
Deborah was an avid animal lover and supporter of various animal rescue groups. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Middleburg Humane Foundation, 5000 Cunningham Farm Dr., Marshall, VA 20115.
