Fire & Rescue Seeks Information on Weekend Fires Neighbors Attributed to Post 4th of July Fireworks
Royal Examiner inquired of neighborhood reports of a Shenandoah Farms area home property fire reported by neighbors attributed to fireworks being set off on Saturday, July 7, three days after the 4th of July celebration generally marked by extensive fireworks displays sanctioned and unsanctioned. This is the reply we received from the Warren County Fire & Rescue Department:
At 10:00 p.m. Saturday night, WCFR was dispatched to the 3600 block of Howellsville Road, in the Shenandoah Farms area of the county, for a large outdoor building fire. Engine 6 arrived and found a large detached outdoor building fully involved, in addition to multiple smaller buildings, passenger vehicles, and a recreational vehicle. Additional manpower was requested from Clarke and Frederick Counties. Rescue Engine 3 and Medic 8 were moved to Fire Station 1 to provide fire and EMS coverage during the incident.
Personnel operated on the scene for approximately 3 hours. No injuries were reported.

At 11:05 PM, Warren County Emergency Communications received reports of a dwelling fire in the ten block of West 17th Street. Medic 8 and Rescue Engine 3 arrived within 2 minutes to find fire showing from the alpha and delta sides of the structure with four passenger vehicles involved. Due to most Warren County stations operating on the fire in Shenandoah Farms, mutual aid resources were requested from Frederick, Shenandoah, Clarke, and Fauquier Counties. Firefighters confirmed the occupants had evacuated the structure before arrival. Personnel from the Howellsville Road fire responded as they became available. Crews operated on the scene for approximately 4 hours.
Two residents were treated and released on the scene. No other injuries were reported. Nine occupants received assistance from the American Red Cross.
The Warren County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Office at (540)636-3830.
