Over the course of the games, Cardinals pitching staff gave up 31 hits, while striking out 23. Offensively, Cardinals batters tallied 25 hits, while striking out 28 times, and stranded 30 runners on base. With the All-Star break on Sunday, the Valley Baseball League is mid-way through regular season play. The Valley Baseball League All-Star Game, which will feature the 25 best players from the North and South Divisions this season, will be played at James Madison University in Harrisonburg on Sunday, July 7th. Four Front Royal Cardinals earned roster spots and will play for the North Team.

Pitcher Shane Scott, who recently threw a complete game shutout for the Cardinals, will represent Front Royal on the mound. Scott, a Junior from Arkansas Tech University, has pitched 36.2 innings this season. Scott has struck out 22, while issuing only 12 walks.

Position player selections include Dylan Menhennett, Carson Bell, and Tre Dabney. Menhennet, selected as a second baseman, is a Senior at the University of West Florida. He is batting .280 and scored 19 runs and batted in 11 on 26 hits, including seven extra base hits and one home run. Bell, a Sophomore at James Madison University, was selected as a third baseman. He is batting .272 and has scored 15 runs and 11 RBIs on 22 hits. He has three hits for extra bases, and two homeruns so far this season. In his short tenure with the Cardinals, he has already hit for three extra bases, including two home runs.

The North team will be managed by Strasburg’s Brock Moss and the South by Waynesboro’s Zac Cole. Batting practice and autograph/photo sessions for young fans will take place from 3:10-4:45 p.m. The 60-yard dash contest will be held at 4:50 p.m. and the Home Run Derby is at 5:20 p.m. Player introductions will be at 7:15 p.m. with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.
