Front Royal Kiwanis 5K Returns May 10 with Scenic Course and Community Spirit

Published

on

The streets of Front Royal, Virginia, will come alive on Saturday, May 10, 2025, as runners gather for the annual Front Royal Kiwanis 5K. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Warren County Health & Human Services Complex, located at 500 West 15th Street. Designed for both competitive and casual runners, the event blends small-town charm with a course that challenges and rewards.

The 5K route, officially measured at 3.1 miles, weaves through the northwestern part of Front Royal and the scenic grounds of Randolph-Macon Academy. Participants will experience a variety of terrain, with the first mile offering a mostly flat or downhill stretch. The second mile presents a steady climb, followed by a final 1.1 miles of rolling hills. The mix of elevation gives seasoned runners a chance to push their pace while remaining welcoming to beginners.

Race-day registration and check-in will open at 8:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Health and Human Services Complex. Early registration is encouraged and available online at RunSignUp. Entry fees are $15 if postmarked by April 28. Race-day registration is $20. Those wanting an official race T-shirt can pre-order one for $14, with the T-shirt and entry combo available for $29 before April 28.

Age-group awards will be given to the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s divisions. Categories include 14 and under, 15–19, and continue in five-year increments up to 60 and over. Overall winners in both the men’s and women’s categories will also be honored. Shenandoah Valley Runners members receive a $1 discount on entry fees.

This race, sponsored by the Shenandoah Valley Runners and organized by the Front Royal Kiwanis Club, is more than just a morning run—it’s a fundraiser benefiting Warren County Special Olympics. By participating, runners help provide athletic opportunities and community support for local Special Olympians.

Event organizers Terry Leckie and Bill Powers welcome questions and registrations. Leckie can be reached at terryleckie82@gmail.com or (540) 660-2378, and Powers at (540) 671-6006.

With scenic views, community cheer, and a cause worth running for, the Front Royal Kiwanis 5K is set to be a highlight on the local calendar. Whether you’re chasing a personal record or walking with friends, May 10 promises a spirited start to the weekend.
