History lost, logic gained – county’s middle school name game
Discussion at the Front Royal–Warren County Liaison Meeting on Thursday verified that July 31st will mark the dedication of the new Warren County Middle School, and the re-naming of the existing middle school on Luray Avenue to Skyline Middle School. That re-naming of the Luray Avenue school, currently Warren County Middle School and for 60-odd years before that Warren County High School, is necessary because the new facility will now be known as Warren County Middle School.

The name changes were decided upon because the new middle school at the intersection of Happy Creek Road and the new Leach’s Run Parkway will feed the current Warren County High School; while the Luray Avenue middle school will feed Skyline High School.

During construction earlier this year the new Warren County Middle School looms on the horizon.
The ceremonies will take place on Monday, July 31st, beginning with a ribbon-cutting at the new school at 9 a.m., with a tour of the facility to follow. The renaming of Skyline Middle School, with a perhaps shorter tour acknowledging the new Skyline Hawks logos, will follow at 11:30 a.m.

Hey, the memories will always be there – WCHS Homecoming Court hams it up at some point in the past …
If some history is being rearranged, or perhaps even lost for some graduates of the old WCHS, at least in the future (and soon-to-be present), logic appears to have been served.
