Lennie Marie Rose Campbell, 86, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed on to her eternal home on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The burial will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Bethel Cemetery, Corliss, WV.

Marie was born on January 25, 1939, to Stephen H. and Lennie McClung Rose at Big Bend, Fayette County, West Virginia, a baby sister to her three brothers.

Marie obtained her education from Divide Elementary, Nuttall High School, and MCV in Richmond, VA. She worked as an X-ray technician before becoming a full-time wife and mother.

On June 15, 1963, she married her life partner, Richard A. Campbell, and they enjoyed 62 years of love and mutual support.

Passing on before Marie were her parents, brothers, Howard and Bert, and her daughter, Kim.

Surviving Marie is her husband, Richard; son, Greg; her brother, Wade Rose of Rainelle, WV; grandson, Adam Ball and his family of Front Royal; grandson, Christopher Ball of Gig Harbor, Washington; granddaughter, Lara Ball of Front Royal; adopted into the family, daughter Rebekah Cantley; one great-granddaughter; three step-great grandchildren; four nieces; three nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends accumulated throughout her life, ALL who loved her dearly.

Marie spent her life caring for her family and doing acts of kindness for others. She mailed many birthday, anniversary, and holiday cards, baked dozens of cookies and pies, and stirred up delicious jellies, jams, and apple butter to share. She was always looking for ways to gladden hearts. She volunteered her time with various fire department auxiliaries, made many baby quilts and blankets, sheltered and fed many family and “adopted” family members. Her caring deeds are too numerous to count. She was a wonderful example of how we should treat each other, and we will forever miss her kind, loving, and spunky spirit.

A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday, January 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at 46 Morgan Ford Road in Front Royal.

Marie loved flowers, but a kind deed done for someone else would probably please her more. Monetary remembrances can be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, which compassionately cared for Marie and her family.
