Façade Improvement Grant

Published

on

Last night, I attended a meeting for the Façade Improvement Grant. As you may know, I was on the committee during implementation, inception, as a county member. I later resigned when I no longer felt needed in this project.

During the entire process we went through on implementation, we asked and were repeatedly told, that businesses that did improvements earlier, but after June 1, 2015, would qualify for the grant with funds spent.

Last night we were told this was not true. The firm the town was working with in the beginning, had provided incorrect information for the entire time involved. The mentioned firm, as announced last night by Felicia Hart, was fired for this reason.

This all is news to all of the Main Street Community property owners. We now are told our earlier investments will not count, nor be available for the grant funds. This is out of character with what is mandatory in a business community,  honesty, leadership and integrity.

I am very disappointed in this and am seeking answers to other situations like this. What remedies may be out there for OUR community of investors. Simply “too bad” is not acceptable.

Thank you for your time.
