Lewis Earl Washington Sr. (1937 – 2024)

Lewis Earl Washington Sr., 87, of Front Royal, Virginia, passed away in the comfort of his home on Friday, October 25, 2024. He was born in Warren County, Virginia, on March 20, 1937, to the late Paul and Nannie Washington.

Lewis is survived by his children, Lewis Washington Jr. (Patricia), Loncel Washington, Loris Williamson, Kristine Dawson, Pam Turnmeyer, Brian Whitney, and Melissa Gordon; his sister, Lillian Whitmore; grandchildren, Tamish Lewis, Brooke (Eric) Johnson, Isaiah Washington, Terrell Williamson, Bilal Williamson, Haakim Williamson, Ibn Williamson, Jameel Williamson, Shawn Fletcher, Trey Andrews, Virginia Washington, Sydney Washington, Serenity Ann, Labron Washington, Leigh Washington, Alan Munson, Kristopher Munson, Dakoda Turnmeyer, William Huerto, Gabriella Mangene, Katherine Mangene, Trevor Gordon, Madison Boyd, Grayson Dawson, Jameson Dawson, Dillon Mills and Kylee Mills and seven great-grandchildren.

Lewis worked at Warren Memorial Hospital for 43 years until his retirement in 1999. While retired, he enjoyed watching all sports, taking care of his yard, and watching all the children in the family play the many sports they loved.

A funeral service will be held for Lewis at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 W Main St, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating. Lewis will be visited at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Following all services, the burial will take place at Good Hope Cemetery. The family requests that everyone wear sports attire to honor Lewis’s love for family and sports.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice at 333 W Cork St., Unit 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
