Nancy Carol Mauck Costello (1946 – 2024)

Nancy Carol Mauck Costello, 77, of Warren County, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at noon at Maddox Funeral Home, with the Rev. Linda Hudgins Breeden officiating. The interment will be private.

Nancy was born October 27, 1946, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Alexander Russell Mauck, Sr. and Gladys Elizabeth Lambert Mauck.

She worked hard all her life, helping to raise children and housekeeping on the farm. She was well known as “Granny” to so many. Her family and many friends will greatly miss her.

She was married to the late Terry Whitworth Costello, Sr.

Surviving are two sons, Terry Costello, Jr. (Cheryl) and Scott Costello (Becky); one daughter, Wendy Smoot (Allen); one sister, Elizabeth Ellis; seven grandchildren, Amanda Wright (Tony), Teryn Costello, Chelsea Mikels (Jonathan), William Smoot, Jr. (Kyra), Scott Costello, Jr. and Matthew and Jeremy Fariss; great-grandchildren, Caleigh Kidwell, Nathaniel Kidwell, Keaton Wright, and Westyn, Piper Rose and Jordyn Mikels; and one great-great-grandchild, Sage Keatts.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Peggy Jean Mauck, brother Alexander Russell Mauck, Jr., granddaughter Amber Dawn Kidwell, and niece Ursula Renee Ellis.

William Smoot, Jr., Garrett Mathews, Junior Darr, Lance Nalls, Robert Ellis, and Scott Costello, Jr. will be pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be “Her Boys,” Andrew, Peter, Alex, and Adie Von Gontard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 4, from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
