Opportunity to tour site, learn about program offerings

LFCC’s newest site, Vint Hill, is opening its doors for an overview and tour from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 19.

Located at 4151 Weeks Drive, the Vint Hill site opened two years ago, and continues to expand its services.

Dr. DeJuanna Parker, the new site manager, is working to add amenities, provide advising services, offer more classes and engage in community outreach.

“We need to let the community know that we are here for them,” Parker said of fostering greater engagement.

New site assistant Shantae Herder will work with current LFCC students and will do outreach at area high schools.

Classes offered at Vint Hill this spring include paralegal studies, construction project management, information technology, cybersecurity, English composition, calculus and history.

The open house will provide a great opportunity to learn more about the 12-month surgical technology course being offered at Vint Hill. Nearly 15,000 surgical technology positions are expected to be created between 2014-2024, and the 2015 median pay was $44,330 per year, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

You can find out about financial aid and scholarships, and even register during the open house.

For more information on Vint Hill classes, call 540-351-1531, or email dparker@lfcc.edu.
