Library Decision Looms: Will the BOS Listen to Voters or Waste More Money?
What will the BOS majority do about the library?
There are 3 options:
- Fully restore the Samuels Library Public/Private Partnership. Listen to the will of the people. Don’t spend another dollar/minute on this divisive issue. This is the preferred option for the benefit of Warren County.
- Do Nothing. Allows the issue to fester, wasting more time and money, until the new BOS majority disbands the WCLB in January. This option will not make things better for Warren County.
- Sign a for-profit contract. There is an old adage among lawyers that says, “If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts; if you have the law on your side, pound the law; if you have neither the facts nor the law on your side, pound the table.”
The last BOS majority press release pounded the table with condescending rhetoric, laughable exaggerations, and outright lies. If the BOS bullies follow through on their threat to sign a for-profit library contract, it will be malfeasance, and they will end up in court, explaining to a judge why they are pounding the table. This option would cost the Warren County taxpayers even more money.
A smart BOS majority would listen to the will of the people, do what is right for Warren County, and immediately restore the Samuels Library Public/Private Partnership.
