Madison Graves Recognized for Compassionate Care at Fauquier Health
In a heartwarming recognition of her dedication and compassion, Madison Graves, LPN, has been named Fauquier Health’s DAISY Award honoree for the third quarter of 2025. The award, which celebrates extraordinary nurses, is based on nominations from patients and their families who have experienced meaningful care firsthand.

Madison joined the Fauquier Health team in 2024 and has already made a lasting impression. Currently studying to become a registered nurse, she also plans to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Despite being early in her career, she is already known for her gentle bedside manner and deep empathy.
“My favorite thing about being a nurse is forming a relationship with patients and being the safe space in their toughest times while cheering them on as they recover,” Graves said. “I fell in love with nursing after my first clinical and knew I had found my calling.”
The nomination that earned her the award came from the mother of a young patient, who wrote about the comfort and attention Madison provided during a hospital stay. “Madison was amazing with my daughter — super attentive to her needs, making sure she was comfortable and that she understood everything that was happening,” the parent shared. “I was really impressed with how she helped my daughter. Madison is a gem! I would give her five stars for compassion, care, understanding and hard work.”
The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away in 1999 from complications of an autoimmune disease. The award recognizes the kind of compassionate care that made a lasting impact on Barnes and his family. Today, the program honors nurses at more than 6,500 healthcare facilities worldwide.
Tony Maxwell, APRN, FNP-BC, and Chief Nursing Officer at Fauquier Health, praised Madison’s natural talent and spirit. “While she is still early in her nursing career, Madison already shows the most important attributes a nurse can have: compassion and empathy,” said Maxwell. “Madison is a wonderful example of how our nurses take exceptional care of our patients. At Fauquier Health, our nurses are the best of the best, so for her to achieve this recognition is an impressive accomplishment!”
Madison credits her success to the supportive team she works with. “We aren’t just co-workers; we are friends and family,” she said. “Everyone is always willing to lend a hand. My leadership is so supportive and willing to work with me — it means the world that they care so much!”
Fauquier Health is known for its commitment to high-quality, patient-focused care. From its accredited 97-bed acute care hospital to its specialized physician practices and community outreach, the health system is focused on supporting patients and families every step of the way. With leaders like Madison Graves on its team, that mission continues to shine in every interaction.
