Mark Alan Storey (1946 – 2024)
Mark Alan Storey, 78, passed away peacefully at his home in Front Royal, surrounded by family, on August 15, 2024.

Mark was born on February 28, 1946, in Renton, Washington, to the late Wes and Audrey (Weeks) Storey. He grew up in Renton and graduated from Renton High School in 1964. It was there that he met his future wife, Dianna.
Mark went on to college at Washington State University and graduated in 1968. As a proud Coug, he loved to follow WSU sports and never missed watching or listening to Cougar football games every season.
In 1969, Mark married his high school sweetheart, Dianna, in Renton, Washington, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. For most of their marriage, Mark and Dianna raised their family in Kirkland, Washington. In 1982, Mark was received into the Catholic Church. His faith was central to his life and the life of his family. During those years, Mark enjoyed attending his children’s sporting events and family gatherings and getting together with his bridge club friends for parties and vacations.
Later in life, Mark and Dianna moved to Virginia to be close to their children and many grandchildren. They were married for over fifty-two years.
Mark served honorably in the Army (1968-1972) during the Vietnam War, reaching the rank of Captain. He served tours both in Panama and South Korea.
In his retirement years, Mark attended his grandchildren’s athletic games, concerts, plays, and recitals. He also spent several years volunteering at a local food bank and the annual Christendom College Golf Tournament. Mark loved reading and listening to music from his record collection, as well as getting together with his buddies for lively discussions on faith, politics, and sports.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Dianna, his sister, Judy, his brother-in-law, Daunt Brunell, his nephew, David, and his niece, Christina.
He is survived by his children, Rick Storey (Amy), Ellen Kelly (Jim), Kevin Storey (Mary), Steven Storey (Sharon), Patrick Storey (Jill), and Timothy Storey (Nicole), as well as their thirty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A wake and funeral Mass will be held for Mark on August 24, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal. The wake will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Good Hope Cemetery.
