Minnie Bell Williams Goranson, 101, formerly of Chester Gap, Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Culpeper Health and Rehabilitation Center in Culpeper, Virginia.
Minnie was born April 29, 1923, in Huntly, Virginia, to the late Sam and Ada Mahoney North. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, David Garfield Williams; their two sons, David Lewin Williams and Lonnie Ray Williams; her second husband, Eddie Goranson; two sisters, Pearl Mills and Georgie “Joy” Brown; two brothers, Stuart North and Jack North; and her grandson, Michael Ray Williams.
Minnie is survived by her granddaughter, Kelly Williams Dye, and her husband, Mike Davis of Culpeper; a grandson, Mark Williams of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two great-grandsons, David Williams of Washington, DC, and Brandon Dye of Cambridge, England; and a special nephew, Mike North and his wife Delores, whom she raised as her own son after his mother passed away at a young age. Minnie also leaves behind nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and members of the Chester Gap community with fond memories of times spent together and stories of years long ago.
Minnie retired from the United States Postal Service after serving as the Postmistress in Chester Gap. She was a member of the Chester Gap Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held for Minnie at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal, Virginia, with Sammy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Williams Family Cemetery in Chester Gap. A visitation will be held for family and friends one hour before the funeral at the funeral home.
