Mission Accomplished
Should we commend the four board members of the apocalypse, now reduced to three, for the successful redistribution of tax dollars allocated to the Samuels Public Library? What an accomplishment! Never in the last 50 years has Samuel’s been defunded. Twenty thousand taxpayers in Warren County and hundreds of individuals attending meetings in support of Samuel’s Library had their voices ignored.
Tax dollars are being diverted from an approved budget to fortify the tyranny of four individuals.
Then a public statement?
‘The interest of the whole community is served by good governance, not emotional rhetoric.’
Funds are now being appropriated for economic development.
What did the previous EDA cost taxpayers?
Is further support required to develop an ice-skating rink, sports complex, grand hotels with conference facilities, and high-end restaurants?
Let’s promote tourism and forget about important issues.
A hundred-million-dollar debt, with a twelve-million-dollar annual debt service.
The 2023-2024 audit remains unfinished fifteen months after the fiscal year ended.
Fiscal year 2024 -2025 ended three months ago. When should we expect that audit?
The current county budget was created with no factual knowledge of previous spending.
Where is the oversight? Where is the appointed board to investigate?
‘Accountability and transparency begets good government.’
Tyranny and deception beget oppression and injustice.
What style of government do we have in Warren County?
Four officials have demonstrated the extent of governmental actions in the absence of oversight by legal authority. Citizens are left with no voice and no choice.
Walter Cronkite, a journalist and broadcaster, summed up the essential nature of libraries by stating, ” Whatever the cost of our libraries, the price is cheap compared to that of an ignorant nation.”
Tyranny or ignorance or both????
In future Warren County Supervisor meetings, it is hoped that attending citizens will no longer have to endure orchestrated presentations and misleading statements from officials, especially when individuals are unable to respond.
