Nancy Lee McGowan (1933 – 2026)

Nancy Lee McGowan, 93, of Maurertown, Virginia, and formerly of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Cambridge Landing Memory Care in Strasburg, Virginia.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 2 PM at Maddox Funeral Home, 105 West Main Street, Front Royal, with Sammy Campbell officiating.  Burial will be private at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. McGowan was born on August 11, 1933, in North Braddock, Pennsylvania, to the late Gerard and Alma Meyers Finan.  She was also preceded in death by her brother, Paul Finan.  Nancy was an administrator and a contract specialist working at Mount Weather, US Army Corps of Engineers, Walter Reed Medical Center, and the Pentagon.  After retirement, Nancy and Jack enjoyed traveling, including trips to Alaska, Australia, and Hawaii, finally settling in St. Petersburg to enjoy the sunshine.  Her greatest loves were spending time with her family, her Scotties, dogs, dolls, flowers, and streetcars from her native Pittsburgh area.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, John Thomas McGowan; three sons, Jeff McGowan (Lydie), Chris McGowan, and Scott McGowan (Brenda); daughter, Valerie McGowan; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
