Overnight traffic stoppages, lane closures on I-66 this weekend for overhead sign gantry removal

FAIRFAX – Overhead gantry removal will require overnight lane closures and traffic stoppages on I-66 East and West between I-495 and Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) this Friday, January 25, and Saturday, January 26.

Details include:

Friday, January 25: I-66 East and West between Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) and Gallows Road

• Three left lanes will be closed on eastbound and westbound I-66 between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.

• Periodic traffic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 5 a.m. in both directions on I-66 between Vaden Drive and Cedar Lane.

Saturday, January 26: I-66 East and West between Blake Lane and I-495

• Three left lanes will be closed on eastbound and westbound I-66 between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.

• Periodic traffic stoppages of up to 20 minutes between midnight and 5 a.m. in both directions on I-66 between Nutley Street and Cedar Lane.

All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

The I-66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes are expected to open in December 2022.
