FRONT ROYAL — A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening in the 1500 block of Shenandoah Avenue in Front Royal.

The victim has been identified at Annette Suggate, 54, according to a media release from the Front Royal Police Department.  A  911 call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck came in around 6:15 p.m. Arriving officers found a white female lying on the ground.  She was transported to Warren Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after her arrival.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Front Royal resident Michael Fletcher, 49. The release states that Fletcher had made a left turn off of W. 14th Street and was traveling north near the area of the Relax Inn when Suggate was struck.  She reportedly was staying at the Cool Harbor Motel.

The pedestrian was not using a crosswalk and weather conditions at the time of the accident played significant roles in this incident, according to the release.

No charges have been placed though the case remains under investigation.  Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact MPO Steve Mauck or Officer Bryan House at 540-635-2111.

This pedestrian fatality is the second one in as many weeks in Front Royal.  On Jan. 12, a homeless man, 56, was struck and killed while crossing the street in the 800 block of John Marshall Highway.
