Sayre responds to previous ‘Letter to the Editor’ about his running for Warren County Board of Supervisor

Dear Editor,
I have never claimed to have made a motion in open session to conduct a forensic audit. To do so before criminal charges are placed would have told the people who were subsequently arrested that we were on to them. I did at the time absolutely support and encourage that a forensic audit be performed, and such audit was performed, ultimately resulting in arrests.
As a freshman Supervisor, the now notorious long-standing corruption related to the EDA broke-open, and I played a big roll in exposing the rogue EDA director. I became aware of irregularities in the workforce housing issue and held open meetings questioning McDonald. I also played a significant part in putting pressure on people to look at her actions and involve the Virginia State Police. I testified against Jennifer McDonald in a criminal trial before the EDA corruption was exposed. Jennifer McDonald unsuccessfully filed a suit of $600,000 for defamation against me. My record as a Board of Supervisor will continue to remain clean, and I am confident the charges against me for negligence in this case will be dropped. As a Supervisor, I have fought the good fight, unlike my opponent who has only recently appeared at board meetings and has never cast a vote in an election in his entire lifetime.
While the county is in very solid fiscal shape and changes are being made for the better, I look forward to the day when all this corruption is before the courts and justice is served.
Sincerely,
Thomas Sayre
