South Warren Ruritan Club Hosts 20th Annual Spaghetti Dinner Fuels Scholarships for Local Teens
A long-standing community tradition is this April, as the South Warren Ruritan Club prepares to host its 20th annual spaghetti dinner, a milestone event that continues to support local students.
Set for April 18 at Skyline High School, the dinner has become a favorite gathering for families and neighbors. But beyond the food and fellowship, the event serves a larger purpose—raising funds for scholarships that help area students take their next steps after high school.
“This is our 20th actual dinner raising money for scholarships,” said Rick Logan during a recent interview.
This year, the club plans to award four $2,000 scholarships to students from Warren County and Skyline High Schools. The funds can be used for a variety of education-related expenses, including tuition, books, and housing.
Club members say they focus on helping a wide range of students, not just those heading to four-year colleges. Scholarships have also supported students attending trade schools and specialized programs.
“We try to look for good all-around students… especially those with financial need,” Logan explained.
The spaghetti dinner itself is designed to bring the community together. Guests can enjoy an all-you-can-eat meal featuring spaghetti with or without meat sauce, salad, bread, desserts, and drinks. The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria.
Admission is offered through a freewill donation, allowing attendees to give what they can. Organizers say the community’s generosity has always been key to the event’s success.
In addition to dinner, the evening includes a cake auction, a silent auction, and live music. Local bakers contribute homemade cakes that often draw spirited bidding, while donated items from area businesses boost fundraising.
“We depend on contributions from the community to help fund these scholarships,” said Chuck Brome, noting the strong support from local sponsors and volunteers.
The club, which has been active since the late 1950s, continues to seek new members and volunteers to help carry out its mission of service.
As the 20th anniversary approaches, organizers hope the event will be bigger than ever—bringing people together for a good meal and an even greater cause.
“It’s all for a good cause,” Brome said.
