This spring, Melissa Ichiuji Studio Gallery on East Main Street in Front Royal, Virginia, invites you to immerse yourself in a series of unique art workshops. Each session is designed to blend creative expression with cultural appreciation, offering participants a hands-on opportunity to explore different artistic techniques. Whether you’re drawn to the serene art of Japanese tea, the intricate beauty of embroidery, or the vibrant flair of pop art, there’s a workshop waiting to unleash your creativity.

The Art of Matcha – March 17, 12-2 p.m.
Dive into Japanese tea culture with the “Art of Matcha” workshop, led by Akemi Maegawa, a renowned artist and ceramist. Discover the health benefits and ceremonial preparation of matcha, known as the world’s healthiest drink. Participants will receive a comprehensive cultural overview, learn matcha-making techniques, and enjoy a traditional tea tasting. The highlight? You’ll take home a beautiful 10-piece Japanese tea set. Registration ends March 12, so secure your spot for an enriching experience at $75 per person.

Cherry Blossom-Themed Embroidery Workshop – March 24, 12-2 p.m.
Embrace the beauty of cherry blossom season through the art of embroidery. Teresa Jarzynski, a talented painter and cross-stitch artist, will guide you through basic stitching techniques to create a cherry blossom-themed masterpiece. This workshop is perfect for beginners and provides all the necessary materials, including practice kits and cherry blossom patterns. Join us for a session of crafting and creativity at $60 per person. Spaces are filling quickly, so register early!

Pop Art Pop-Up! – April 3, Session #1 for Kids 7-17 yrs: 3-5 p.m., Session #2 for Adults: 6-8 p.m.
Explore the iconic work of Andy Warhol with our “Pop Art Pop-Up!” workshop. Led by Penny Ott, participants will delve into the bold and colorful world of the 1960s Pop Art movement. Create your own piece inspired by Warhol’s famous ‘Flowers’ collection, learning about the era’s influence on art and culture. This workshop is a fantastic opportunity to create a unique, framed piece of pop art history. Materials are included at $50 per person, making it the perfect pre-Mother’s Day creative session.
