Stolen Car, Explosives device suspect remains Jailed without Bond at RSW
After a defense bond motions hearing in Warren County General District Court Wednesday afternoon, January 8, Jordan Alexander Sweetman, 19, of Arlington, Virginia, was returned to RSW Regional Jail without bond. The hearing had originally been scheduled for Monday, January 6, but court was cancelled that day due to the snow event that stormed through the region.
As previously reported, Sweetman was arrested in the January 2nd incident involving a stolen car and possession of explosive materials, some of which may have been thrown from the stolen vehicle as Sweetman was driving it in Warren County under suspicious circumstances.
Following Wednesday’s hearing Warren County Commonwealth’s Attorney John Bell told Royal Examiner that the family of Sweetman, who was described as exhibiting “signs of potential mental health issues” upon his questioning and arrest here, was seeking to have him transferred to a facility with an in-house treatment center for the variety of mental health issues he apparently suffers from.
Involved options were reported to include the “Reach Program” in Fairfax, as well as Fairfax INOVA hospital. As we understand, the involved judge ordered an investigation of potential facilities and security standards.
Commonwealth Attorney Bell said he wanted assurances that Sweetman would not be transferred to a facility without adequate security measures, and that he or his family would not be able to check him in and out of the facility.

A hearing has been scheduled for January 15, in Warren County General District Court to get results of the court-ordered investigation of transfer options for Sweetman where he can receive the more specialized mental health treatment he is believed to need.
