Dear Editor:

We enthusiastically support Janice Shanks as the best candidate for Clerk of the Circuit Court in Warren County. Janice is currently serving in the position of Clerk, which now includes managing the information filed through the Circuit Court for the Special Grand Jury Investigation of the Warren County EDA. As Clerk for the Special Investigation as for all the duties as Clerk of the Circuit Court, continuity, professional skills and a high standard of integrity really matter.

Janice has worked within the Warren County Court system for years as a court reporter before being sworn in as Clerk, appearing in all of the different Circuit Courts in the 26th District. She is familiar with requirements, procedures and the “players”: judges, lawyers and key staff. She has a broad and varied work history which has resulted in development of exceptional management skills.

We have known Janice’s family for years. Her sister, Deanna Hickerson, worked for our company in Annapolis, MD, many years ago. Deanna’s work and personal ethics, professionalism and values added much to the success of our business. We know those steadfast values came from her family and believe the same to be true of Janice. This family introduced us to this area, and as a result, we chose to reside here in 2012.

We are learning a lot about the importance of trustworthiness in local offices, and we expect our newly elected officials to function with a high standard of performance and integrity. We believe that Janice Shanks will continue to assure those values as Clerk of the Court and Clerk of the Special Grand Jury Investigation. Why change horses in mid-stream?

Sincerely,

John and Connie Cermak
