They Said the Quiet Part Out Loud — And It’s Ugly
Mark Egger, the author of “More Than Libraries or Data Centers” and the leader of the 2023 “Clean Up Samuels” movement, has finally said the quiet part out loud. While most of the people trying to hijack this county still hide behind buzzwords like “fiduciary responsibility,” he just came right out with it: “We will not accept the insane ideology of the alphabet soup.” He said exactly what this is about: bigotry, plain and simple.
This wasn’t a policy argument. It was a venom-soaked tantrum, lashing out at children, demonizing doctors, and spewing paranoid bile in place of thought. If your argument opens by mocking trans kids and ends by accusing community leaders of child abuse because they won’t publicly pledge allegiance to your cruelty, you’ve already lost the argument.
You don’t have to like Tony Carter or Hugh Henry, but let’s get one thing straight: they’ve spent decades working for this community while you used 400 words to attack kids and smear anyone who doesn’t subscribe to your fear-driven worldview. They’ve earned respect by showing up, listening, and leading. And the part that really pisses you off? They refuse to weaponize their position to target the people you can’t stand. Because in your world, decency is weakness and cruelty is the point.
And like the last few letters, this one isn’t just drenched in bigotry. It drips with contempt. We’ve been told we need “well-educated Catholics” to guide us, like we’re too dumb to think for ourselves. We’re not.
So again, thank you. This was never about libraries or data centers. It’s what it’s always been about: bigotry. And now a self-righteous 1.25% thinks they get to dictate who we are, what we read, and how we live.
We’ll see you on June 17. You’ve made the choice pretty damn easy.
