Veteran Victor Parker serves as peer counselor

Victor Parker, a certified peer counselor, talks about his experience with the DBSA.
Retired Air Force veteran Victor Parker, a Shenandoah County resident, knows first-hand that mental illnesses such as depression and bipolar disorder can be isolating. The Shepherd University graduate, who is also a disabled veteran, became a certified peer support counselor with the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, or DBSA, after meetings helped him through a difficult period.
A local DBSA support group can offer the help that is essential to recovery. For meeting information, go to www.dbsalliance.org.
