Vickie Elaine Smedley (1950 – 2024)

Vickie Elaine Smedley, 74, of Staunton, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Hillside Residential Living.

Mrs. Smedley was born on April 22, 1950, in Warren County, Virginia, to the late Russell and Mary Pritchett Smedley. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry E. Smedley. She was the previous owner of a craft store in Whitesville, New York, and later the owner of Greenwood Grocery in Winchester, Virginia.

Vickie often spent time with her friends and family in her free time.  She was an avid winner of the card game rummy, often beating anyone she could find to play with her.  In previous years, Vickie often enjoyed her visits to New York with
her son and family.

Survivors include her son, Larry “Doug” Travis; daughter, Michelle E. Houghtaling; three grandchildren, Douglas C. Travis, Tyler A. Travis, and Sydney Hurlbut; and five great-grandchildren.
