WCHS DECA & Key Clubs join in 2019 Day of Caring

WCHS DECA members clean and pick up trash in Miller Park creek bed and the boat landing at Eastham Park.
Every year, United Way volunteers help selected members of our community with home repairs, cleaning and other tasks, such as painting, yard cleanup, landscaping, minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. Also, community parks, such as Miller and Eastham Parks, benefit from cleanup work as part of this event.
WCHS’s DECA chapter was put in charge of cleaning and picking up trash in Miller Park creek bed and the boat landing at Eastham Park here in Front Royal. 85% of the WCHS DECA Chapter membership participated in this service project for our community. DECA’s involvement with the Day of Caring not only left members with a sense of improving our community, but helped foster student members’ teamwork skills. Many students learned valuable skills of social responsibility while performing community service.
Members of the WCHS Key Club also participated in the Day of Caring as well by providing yard work services for three private residences. WCHS Key Club President, Abby Reed, stated, “being able to help other people helped raise my personal sense of community pride and being able to give back to our community”.
