Wednesday afternoon crash shuts down Interstate 66
Just after 3:30 PM Wednesday afternoon, Warren County Emergency Communications Center received reports of a motorcycle crash with significant injuries on westbound Interstate 66 in the area of the 10 mile marker. Personnel responded and located bystanders rendering aid to the motorcycle’s rider who was down in the roadway. EMS providers immediately initiated care and determined air medical transport to a trauma center was needed based on the patient’s condition. AirCare 4 (Front Royal) was alerted and responded to the scene to assist.

Interstate 66 was temporarily shut down to allow the aircraft to safely land a short distance from the crash site. Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police, and the Virginia Department of Transportation assisted in traffic control throughout the incident.
