Winchester woman dies in shooting incident in Washington, D.C.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Police said Wednesday that a Winchester, VA woman has died after being shot by officers in the nation’s capital. Police said the woman, Isabelle Duval, a 41-year-old Caucasian, was shot after brandishing a handgun at police after they were called to the scene of a car accident Duvall had been involved in.
D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said at a news conference that police were called to the Bald Eagle Recreation Center on Joliet Street, in the southwest part of Washington on Tuesday evening for a report of a car crash near the recreation center.
Shortly after that call, police got reports about a woman with a gun.
Chief Newsham says officers found a woman, armed with a gun, and gave multiple commands for her to drop the weapon, which she ignored. Newsham says the woman raised the weapon in the direction of officers and two officers fired. He says the woman’s weapon, a Ruger semi-automatic pistol, was recovered.
