Golfers Report to Their Carts at 2015 Tournament

FRONT ROYAL, VA – The Warren County Educational Endowment (WCEE) will hold its 24th Annual Golf Tournament on May 9th at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club. The event will start off with lunch catered by the Apple House at 11:30 followed by a shotgun start at 12:30 pm. Sponsorships are available for Hole ($100), Supporter ($250), Bronze ($500), Silver ($750) and Gold ($1,000 – Includes a team) levels. The cost to enter a team is $300.

Since 1994, we have been able to grow the corpus or principal of the Endowment to over $900,000. The corpus of the Endowment is invested and the income is used to directly assist in promoting creative efforts to foster educational excellence for the children of Warren County. The Endowment has previously given 123 grants totaling $412,838.68 since 1996. The goal of the WCEE Board is to raise the total corpus to $1 million which would generate an estimated $50,000+ per year in grants to support public education in Warren County. As of September 2017, the endowment stood at approximately $938,000, just $62,000 from its goal. We are committed to reaching our goal in 2018 and need your support to reach this milestone.

WCEE believes that sometimes it takes private support of public efforts to incubate an idea or approach which helps students compete in a global marketplace, instills passion for life-long learning, and sparks a vision to stretch for success. Programs funded by the Endowment are sponsored by our school system and are consistent with its mission and direction. They are intended to initiate sustained improvement in the fundamental capability of the school system and enhance the attractiveness of the community through the promotion of educational excellence.

Golf Committee Chairman and Endowment President Doug Stanley stated, “The annual WCEE Golf Tournament is the Endowment’s main fundraiser. This year’s event is scheduled for May 9, 2018 at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club in Front Royal. We will be playing the tournament in memory of James M. “Jim” Eastham and his dedication and commitment to the Endowment and its mission to improve our school system. Jim was a member of the Endowment Board from 2010 to 2017 and served as a member and Chairman of the Golf Tournament Committee. We need the community’s support to make this a successful event. Whether you play golf or not, you can help us help the school system on its Trek-To-Excellence by supporting the tournament. The Annual Golf Tournament is a great event at a great venue. Come join us at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club and support a great cause.”

Persons interested in participating in the golf tournament or supporting the Endowment can contact the Endowment at wceducationalendowment.org or by contacting Connie Oden at (540) 305-1108.
