The city, which includes nearly 200 buildings, served multiple purposes, from studying astronomy to practicing agriculture and holding religious ceremonies. Today, Machu Picchu is the most iconic symbol of the Inca Empire, attracting millions of visitors who marvel at its mysterious history and stunning views.

3. The Coliseum

The Coliseum in Rome, Italy, is one of the most famous landmarks of the ancient world. Construction of this massive amphitheater began in 71 CE and was completed in just about 10 years. It was capable of holding over 50,000 spectators and was used for almost 500 years to host gladiatorial battles, animal hunts, and other spectacles.
